Things to do with kids in TTDI

TTDI (Taman Tun Dr Ismail) is a landed residential neighbourhood in north-west KL between Mont Kiara, Damansara Heights and the Damansara corridor. Families tend to start at Taman Rimba Kiara, keep Bukit Kiara's federal park in mind for a longer outdoor stretch, and use music and art studios along Jalan Tun Mohd Fuad and Persiaran Zaaba for the school week. This guide is what we would send a friend who has just moved in — each place linked to its own page so you can check current hours before going.

    TTDI at a glance

The neighbourhood feels more residential than mall-led. Taman Rimba Kiara on Jalan Tun Mohd Fuad is its main green space, while nearby shop streets provide a base for lessons and lunch. Mont Kiara, Desa ParkCity, Bangsar, Hartamas and Damansara Heights are short drives away, so there is no need to fit every activity into TTDI itself.

Afternoon storms are common in Kuala Lumpur. Plan outdoor time early and keep an indoor option ready for later. With children, a park visit and lunch may be enough for the day; leave room to head home rather than building a schedule around several stops.

    Parks and outdoor time

Taman Rimba Kiara. This DBKL public park is on Jalan Tun Mohd Fuad near TTDI. Its flat grounds include a large lake and a walking and jogging path of about 956 m. The DBKL page lists parking, wakaf, an open field, a stream, a retention pond, a surau, public toilets and a camping site. It also describes bird watching here. Formerly a FRIM nursery area, the park was taken over by DBKL in 1995.

For a family morning, keep the plan simple: a walk, a pause by the open lawns and a picnic if the weather holds. Stay close to younger children around the lake, stream and pond. Check the source page for current opening hours rather than relying on an old listing.

Taman Persekutuan Bukit Kiara. The federal park at Bukit Kiara is managed by Jabatan Landskap Negara. Its official site lists a Family Recreation Zone, or Taman Lembah Kiara, among the park's zones. It is a useful option for a longer outdoor stretch a short hop from TTDI. Confirm access and current visitor information on the official park pages, and check the source page for current opening hours. Choose an outing that suits your child's energy rather than assuming every park zone offers the same experience.

    Indoor play and rainy days

TTDI itself does not have a large mall indoor playground we could verify on an official page on 2 November 2026. Sensible rainy-day hops nearby include Kids Nation at Sunway 163 Mall, an indoor playground in Mont Kiara. Check the operator's page before setting off; our Mont Kiara guide puts it alongside other local options.

Plaza Arkadia has a kids' café and enrichment cluster in Desa ParkCity. Our things to do with kids in Desa ParkCity guide covers those stops, with links to check the venues. A simple wet-afternoon plan is lunch near home, then one of those short drives, then home before the evening rush. Check your chosen stop before leaving rather than treating a directory listing as a promise that it is open.

    Food and family-friendly stops

Cafés and family restaurants cluster along Jalan Tun Mohd Fuad and Persiaran Zaaba. A neighbourhood lunch after a park morning keeps the day manageable without another drive across the city. Check each venue's own listing before you go, particularly if you need somewhere that suits a pushchair or a child's food needs. When the weather holds, a picnic on the Rimba lawns is another straightforward option. Bring what your family needs and leave the space tidy.

    Classes and weekly activities

Once term starts, most families want something regular. These local studios have their own pages to check before enquiring. Consider the weekly trip as well as the activity: a lesson that fits around school and home practice is easier to keep in the calendar.
